Brandy production in Armenia was started in 1887 by the merchant of the first guild, Nersess Tairyan, at the first wine and vodka factory built by him in Yerevan. In 1899, the plant became the property of the famous Russian company “N.L. Shustov and Sons” and its cognacs began to be delivered to the court of His Imperial Majesty Nicholas II. At international exhibitions, Armenian cognacs began to win Grand Prix and gold medals.

During the nationalization of all wine and cognac plants in 1920, the Yerevan plant was the first to become state property. In 1953, the cognac factory was moved to a new monumental building, the pride of Armenia, and renamed “Yerevan Cognac Factory”. At this wonderful enterprise, equipped with the latest equipment, the famous Armenian Brandy Ararat is produced to this day.

In 1998, Yerevan Cognac Plant became part of the French Pernod Ricard group. “Pernod Ricard” specialists not only carefully preserved the historical traditions of Ararat brandy production, but also ensured new high quality standards for this legendary drink.
