Alcohol for vodka Barska is produced at the only distillery in Lithuania – Obeliai.
Launched in 1907, the Obeliai distillery was owned by a county family and the drinks were produced exclusively for the aristocracy. Since 1922, the distillery has been owned by the leading alcohol producer in the Baltics, Vilniaus Degtinė, a company owned by Marie Brizard Wine & Spirits.
In 2011, the project to modernize the Obeliai distillery was launched: a biogas power plant was installed, which allows generating electricity and producing electricity from grain waste. A biomass boiler was also installed.
Currently, only renewable energy sources are used to meet energy demand. Being the only distillery in the region, the company strives to preserve its authenticity, and for the production of Barska vodka, it ensures the supply of raw materials exclusively of Lithuanian origin.
