The beginning of the production of Swedish vodka dates back to the 15th century – it was then that the Scandinavians began to produce the drink “Branvin”, the name of which translates as “fire wine”. Subsequently, the distilled alcohol, called vodka, was used as a medicinal product, and in the 17th century, vodka became the national Swedish drink.
The history of Absolut goes back 130 years – the first bottle of Absolut was released in 1879. It was then that the entrepreneur Lars Olsson Smith introduced a new type of vodka, Absolut rent Bränvin, which translates as “absolutely pure vodka.” This innovative product was distinguished from others by its revolutionary production technology, which was based on continuous distillation, which made it possible to clean the product from unnecessary impurities as best as possible and preserve its natural character. The rectification method is still used in the production of Absolut vodka to this day, and a portrait of Lars Olsson Smith, who earned the name “King of Vodka”, adorns every bottle of Absolut.
100 years after the appearance of Absolut rent Bränvin, in 1979, the Swedish company V&S Group decided to export Absolut vodka to the United States. Today, Absolut is sold in 126 markets and is the largest alcohol brand that occupies a leading position in terms of sales.
Every drop of Absolut vodka is born in one single place – the town of Achus, located in the south of Sweden. From selected winter wheat to water from its own artesian spring, Ahus provides all the necessary raw materials for the millions of bottles sold worldwide.
Centuries-old experience shows that winter wheat makes it possible to make vodka of the best quality. That is why more than 1 kg of grain is used to produce each bottle of Absolut. All members of the Absolut family are distilled hundreds of times before they can be called Absolut vodka. This is the essence of the continuous distillation process, which is the basis of the Absolut production technology. For the entire Absolut family, only natural ingredients are used without added sugar.
Distilling vodka in one place using local ingredients gives full control at all stages of production and ensures high quality standards in every drop of Absolut vodka.
